Glaucoma

The eye is filled with nourishing fluid. The pressure of this fluid helps maintain the shape of the eyeball; Glaucoma is a disease where an abnormal increase in pressure inside the eye leads to damage to the optic nerve which transmits signals from the eyes to the brain.

Very often glaucoma is silent & does not cause pain or other symptoms. If it is not diagnosed & treated it can lead to blindness. The damage is not reversible making early diagnosis and treatment very important.

For glaucoma diagnosis progression & treatment response analysis glaucoma workup is done

Glaucoma work comprised of

  • Perimetry test: done by a very advanced "Humphrey visual field analyzer by Carl Zeiss Germany. This helps in assessing the function of the optic nerve & field of vision.
  • Oct test: done by the latest Cirrus HD oct by Carl Zeiss Germany this helps in assessing the structure of different layers of the retina and optical nerves .it also analyses the angle of the anterior for drainage of aqueous out of the eye.
  • Pachymetry test: to check the thickness of the cornea which helps in the exact calculation of intraocular pressure.

For the management of glaucoma, different modalities are available

  • Eye drops or tablet
  • Laser when there is a narrow passage for drainage of aqueous from the eye can lead to an attack of glaucoma. This is prevented by creating a bypass track for drainage with the help of a laser we have the latest “ND YAG LASER “by Appasamy associated.
  • Surgery: can be done to control glaucoma decisions which are usually taken by your treating doctor.

Comprehensive Glaucoma Care at Manish eye institute

Advanced Diagnosis & Treatment for Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a progressive eye disease that can lead to permanent vision loss if left untreated. At Manish eye institute  we offer state-of-the-art diagnostic technology and personalized treatment plans to preserve your vision and manage glaucoma effectively.

Our Glaucoma Diagnostic Services

1. Autoperimetry (Visual Field Testing)

  • Evaluates peripheral vision loss, a key indicator of glaucoma progression.
  • Helps in early detection and monitoring of disease progression.

2. OCT-Based Investigations (Optical Coherence Tomography)

  • Provides high-resolution imaging of the optic nerve and retinal nerve fiber layer.
  • Detects early structural changes before vision loss occurs.

3. Pachymetry (Corneal Thickness Measurement)

  • Measures corneal thickness, which is crucial for accurate intraocular pressure (IOP) assessment.
  • Helps in determining glaucoma risk and customizing treatment plans.

4. Gonioscopy (Angle Examination)

  • Evaluates the drainage angle of the eye, distinguishing between open-angle and angle-closure glaucoma.
  • Essential for determining the best treatment approach.

5. Applanation Tonometry (Gold Standard for IOP Measurement)

  • Precisely measures intraocular pressure (IOP) to assess glaucoma severity.
  • Crucial for monitoring treatment effectiveness.

6. Progression Analysis Software

  • Uses advanced AI-driven analysis to track glaucoma progression over time.
  • Helps in adjusting treatment plans for optimal eye health.

7. OCT Angiogram for Optic Nerve Circulation

  • Assesses blood flow to the optic nerve, identifying vascular issues related to glaucoma.
  • Provides deeper insight into glaucoma-related nerve damage.

Glaucoma Treatment Options

At Manish eye institute  we provide a comprehensive range of treatment options to manage glaucoma effectively:

1. Medical Management (Eye Drops & Medications)

  • Reduces intraocular pressure to prevent further damage.
  • Customized treatment plans based on patient needs.

2. Laser Treatments for Glaucoma

  • Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) – Enhances the drainage system to lower IOP.
  • Laser Peripheral Iridotomy (LPI) – Opens drainage pathways for angle-closure glaucoma.
  • Micropulse Laser Therapy – A minimally invasive approach for better IOP control.

3. Advanced Glaucoma Surgeries

  • Trabeculectomy – Creates a new drainage pathway for better fluid outflow.
  • Glaucoma Drainage Devices (Implants/Stents)Minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) for long-term IOP control.
  • Cyclophotocoagulation (CPC) – A laser procedure to reduce eye pressure effectively.

Why Choose Manish Eye Institute for Glaucoma Care?

  • Cutting-edge diagnostics for early detection & accurate monitoring.
  • Personalized treatment plans based on each patient’s condition.
  • Minimally invasive laser & surgical options for long-term glaucoma management.
